Fort Lewis College announced Dec. 17 that the college Board of Trustees and the Fort Lewis College Foundation Board of Directors each proposed $500,000 investments for a down payment assistance program for faculty and staff, demonstrating the college’s commitment to increase access to affordable housing for students and employees.
FLC also said it is pursuing strategies to build more on-campus housing and evaluating proposals for developing housing for students and employees.
“Because of construction lead times, the crisis can’t be solved immediately, and FLC expects the need for housing to increase during construction,” a news release said. “But the college plans to use the resources at their disposal to build below market rate housing and pass those savings on to their students.”
