Skyhawks swept for the third time in as many matches in two days

California hasn’t been kind to the Fort Lewis College volleyball team.

Cal State-Los Angeles handed the Skyhawks their third sweep in as many matches in 2013, winning 25-11, 25-14, 25-23 on Saturday at the Cal State-San Bernardino Coyote Classic in San Bernardino, Calif.

Cal Poly Pomona beat FLC 3-1 (25-13, 19-25, 25-21, 27-25) in the Skyhawks’ second match Saturday.

Ashley Wells led the Skyhawks (0-4) with 10 kills in the opener, while Heather Danny had 15 assists and Jenna Kinzer 10 digs.

The Skyhawks, however, committed 23 errors and had just one service ace against seven service errors.

Cal State-Los Angeles, meanwhile, had 12 aces against just two service errors and committed just 12 attack errors against 33 kills, led by Iona Lofrano’s 10 kills.

Danny had eight assists against Cal Poly Pomona, and FLC outhit the Broncos .267 to .229, but FLC finished with just 12 total kills to the Broncos’ 17. Wells and Kristin Stephan had four apiece for FLC.

FLC (0-4) will head to Golden next weekend for four matches, starting with Tarleton State at 1 p.m. Friday.
