So now we are going to have to relive the fluoridation controversy of 2017, when the system was overwhelmingly supported? Facts haven’t changed.
I grew up in Washington, D.C., where fluoridation wasn’t introduced until l952. Before that time, whenever I went to the dentist, multiple teeth had cavities and I endured hours of painful drilling with the primitive slow machines then in use. But, all of a sudden, no more cavities and I only had to put up with braces for many years.
I think that local La Plata County children who live outside fluoridated areas having a much higher incidence of tooth decay is ample proof that the product works. We will certainly find out when Robert F. Kennedy Jr. takes office as secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and looks to remove fluoride from public drinking water on Day One.
Good luck to us, or at least our children.
