In response to Tom Wright, (“Gun wackos asked to keep their distance,” Letters, Herald, Aug. 26), there are many law-abiding National Rifle Association members in New Mexico as well as in Colorado. Colorado is quite capable of handling its own issues.
I would suggest that Wright clean out his own backyard by spending more time on New Mexico’s issues. He could start by looking at how many innocent men, women and children are being killed on New Mexico highways by repeatedly convicted drunken drivers; no guns involved there.
As a citizen of this country, Wright is entitled to his opinion.
However, whether he is the gun-control expert he seems to think he is or not, “wacko” is an offensive word that he uses to deliberately insult the honest law-abiding citizens who are members of the NRA.
Wright should be able to disagree with the people who are exercising their Second Amendment rights – as he is exercising his First Amendment rights – without stooping to juvenile and derogatory labels.
