Focus on eggs, not hate against gay and trans people

Anyone who says that “Durango School District 9-R are encouraging nonheterosexual sex, or any sex, at all,” or “Who knows how many children have been coached to admire homosexuality, transgenderism, etc., by needless exposure to abnormal sexual behavior at grammar schools?,” like a letter writer did recently (Herald, Jan. 24), really doesn't understand how human sexuality works. Perhaps they should look inside themselves and figure out why they have a problem with “nonheterosexual sex.”

There have been gay and trans people since the dawn of time. Continuing to spew this type of hate perpetuates the narrative that being gay or trans is bad.

This type of thought process is what is killing our children. I have a child in 9-R and I can tell you that they are not encouraging sex of any kind. They are trying to educate our children through all the threats of violence and lawsuits like Hope Scheppelman and Darcy Schoening, Colorado Republican Party vice chairwoman and director of Special Initiatives, respectively.

The only people who seem to be encouraging sex of any kind or are hyper-focused on genitalia are Trump supporters.

So maybe, just maybe, you all can tone down the outrage and get your leader to focus on lowering the cost of eggs, like he promised to do on Day One.

We are now in the second week of his administration and they are getting more expensive.
