Kids are not subject to gun laws, commonsensical or otherwise. Neither do they have rights.
Adults do have common sense, or should have, and rights, and are personally responsible for kids. Several of those rights are acknowledged by the U.S. Constitution. Notice the absence of the term “granted by.”
“Gun Safety” has been warped to mean Gun Control by those who, in fear of responsibility, would use common sense to justify their actions. There is no such firearm as an assault weapon commonly available to citizens today. That firearm, whether black or not, would have to be capable of automatic fire and use an intermediate caliber.
So, while one appreciates the various sentiments afloat in the ether today, facts remain the important element.
The U.S. seems run over by mass shootings. Mass media is the culprit here. One knows that any single life is precious and therefore too many to lose. If the stats were to eliminate the shooting deaths in the five largest cities, the U.S. would rank somewhere around fourth from the bottom on firearms deaths internationally. Subtract suicides, lower yet. Correctly categorize children as under 18 years of age, lower yet.
In the face of all that, common sense begins to approach itself. Pogo does not have to be exactly correct!
