For LPEA, vote for Garcia, Schell, Turner

The Sustainability Alliance of Southwest Colorado would like to remind everyone about the upcoming La Plata Electric Association board of directors election. These elections are a central part of our mission to help create a sustainable future for our region.

The LPEA board of directors plays a significant role in determining how our region generates and distributes its energy, and those decisions are central to how we address climate issues as a community. There are three candidates running in this year’s election that SASCO wants to recommend to voters who are concerned about the future of energy in the Southwest.

These candidates are: Mark Garcia (District 1), Lori Schell (District 2) and Jack Turner (District 4). All three of these candidates are focused on bringing LPEA into the future.

The energy industry is changing rapidly, and LPEA needs to be able to change with it to address new environmental and economic challenges. Meeting these challenges is going to require a willingness to act now to utilize alternative energy sources, especially solar, that will allow us to generate sustainable energy and create local jobs and economic growth.

Mark, Lori and Jack are the candidates who SASCO believes understand the need for long-term planning to ensure that LPEA can continue to provide reliable and sustainable electricity to its members. Please remember to vote for Mark Garcia, Lori Schell and Jack Turner so that LPEA has a sustainable future.
