We live less than 7 miles from the Blue Ridge Fire, which started at the Forest Lakes Subdivision the afternoon of Aug. 15. We were thinking about the possibility of needing to evacuate when we learned that the fire was no longer a threat, and that people who had evacuated could return home.
The multipronged response was amazingly fast and effective despite difficult terrain, strong winds and severe drought. We especially thank the Upper Pine Fire Prevention District for their expertise and quick response.
I believe that Los Pinos was erroneously written in the sentence giving credit to mutual aid partners when the Upper Pine was meant (Herald, Aug. 17). Although both fire protection districts have the “pine” or “pinos” in their names, they are separate entities.
