Former Fort Lewis College soccer player Luc Cisna named RMAC Hall of Famer

Late 90’s standout defender is first men’s soccer player inducted into RMAC Hall of Fame

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its 2016 Hall of Fame inductees last week, and a Fort Lewis College great made history.

The eight inductees were announced over a four-day period with two names per day. On Tuesday, Luc Cisna of the 1995-1999 Fort Lewis Skyhawks men’s soccer team became the first men’s soccer player inducted into the RMAC Hall of Fame.

Cisna anchored the Fort Lewis defense for an incredible stretch of soccer in which the Skyhawks won four consecutive RMAC Championships. In his final year, the Skyhawks made it all the way to the 1999 NCAA Division II Championship Match, but lost 2-1 in double overtime to Southern Connecticut State.

The gritty defender was a two-time All-American and two-time All-Region standout. He was also an Academic All-American and made the RMAC’s Academic All-Conference Team four times. For his efforts and example on the field and in the classroom, he was named Skyhawks’ team captain twice.

In 2005, Cisna was inducted into the Fort Lewis College Hall of Fame and was recognized again in 2010 when the entire 1999 team was inducted. In 2009, Cisna was named to the RMAC’s All-Century Men’s Soccer Team.

Other inductees announced include: Mike Allison (Adams State, Wrestling), Ike Armstrong (Utah, Football/Basketball), Tony DuCros (Regis, Basketball), Jack Hancock (Colorado Mines, Wrestling coach), Kim (Bugg) Jackson (Adams State, XC/Track & Field), Jill McCaslin-Thomas (Nebraska-Kearney, Softball), and the 1982 & 1983 Colorado Mesa Football teams.

The 2016 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is scheduled to take place Friday, July 8 at the Marriott in Colorado Springs.
