Adam Owens, MD, formerly of Mercy Family Medicine and Centura Health, opened a new primary care practice on Oct. 3. Durango Primary Care is a direct primary care clinic for all ages located at the Rivergate Medical Complex. The clinic aims to deliver high-quality primary medical care directly to patients.

Durango Primary Care is a different kind of health clinic known as direct primary care. The new clinic model aims to address some common pain points in primary care, including long wait times and difficulty communicating with the doctor. In direct primary care, patients pay an affordable monthly or annual membership fee. The clinic does not bill insurance. The number of patients enrolled in the clinic will be limited to about 25% of the usual physician patient load to allow for easier access and longer visits with the doctor.
