Mentioned in race preview information as one of the runners to follow, former SunUte Community Center lifeguard Gabe Proctor lived up to the billing as he crossed the finish line 10th at the Jan. 18 Aramco USA Half-Marathon Championships in Houston, Texas.

Now based in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., and an elite runner with the Mammoth Track Club, Proctor clocked one hour, three minutes, thirteen seconds for the 13.1-mile event. Winner Diego Estrada's time was 1:00:51.

Proctor averaged a 4:57 mile for the race, having reached his first five-kilometer split at a 4:44 pace.
