Fort Lewis’ Briana Clah, Brandon Wilson earn RMAC Player of the Week awards

Standout offensive performances get recognized by league

The Fort Lewis College men’s and women’s basketball teams were a perfect 4-0 over the weekend against Western State and Colorado Mesa. On Monday, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rewarded two key players for their efforts.

Skyhawks big man Brandon Wilson was recognized for his weekend worth of solid work and named the RMAC’s Offensive Player of the Week. Wilson wasn’t the only offensive standout for FLC at Whalen Gymnasium over the weekend as Briana Clah took home women’s RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors as well.

Wilson posted his fourth double-double of the season with 20 points and 14 rebounds in Saturday’s 90-71 win against Colorado Mesa. Both numbers are career highs for the center from Littleton and the impressive performance came in a landmark win for FLC, its 30th consecutive victory at home.

On Friday, Wilson pitched in 15 points and eight rebounds in a 95-70 win against Western State. It is Wilson’s fourth RMAC Player of the Week award this season.

The women’s team also had a standout offensive performance by sharpshooter Briana Clah.

Clah has the ability to light it up in a hurry from long range, and she did just that in a pair of impressive FLC wins. She was an astounding 7-for-8 from 3-point land over the weekend. She led all scorers with 19 points in a 67-36 blowout win against Western State on Friday before racking up a game-high 22 points Saturday against Colorado Mesa.

The Skyhawks teams will need a few more impressive performances on Friday as they host Colorado School of Mines.

The women will tip at 5:30 p.m. and the 12th-ranked men will follow in a huge game against No. 25 Orediggers.
