Fort Lewis College raised $990,307 in donations this GivingTuesday – a record-breaking amount, according to a news release from the college.
More than 550 donors, including 180 first-time supporters, are to thank for the bountiful outcome, the release said. More than 285 donors put their support toward the athletic department – up from 172 in 2024.
The campaign, now in its seventh year, surpassed last year’s donation record by more than $250,000.
President Heather Shotton said the FLC Foundation Board of Directors played a prominent role in the effort, “reaching nearly 100% participation through challenge gifts, donor outreach, and contributions across multiple funds.”
The record-breaking outcome reflects a growing confidence in FLC’s mission, Shotton said.
“This is a great win for the college and a reminder that people are deeply committed to the work we are doing at FLC,” she said in the release. “I’m grateful to our college leaders, alumni, employees, and friends who continue to show up for our students.”
Funds will benefit scholarships, undergraduate research, internships, basic needs programs, athletics, alumni engagement and reconciliation initiatives, according to the release.
Interim Vice President for Advancement Lauren Berutich said collective effort is to thank for the campaign’s success.
“This achievement reflects the power of our entire community and the dedication of our staff, faculty, leadership, and partners who make this work possible,” Berutich said in the release. “These funds will advance our mission across every area of campus and directly support our strategic priorities and student success.”
