While some football programs around the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference saw dozens of players sign their names to National Letters of Intent during Wednesday’s National Signing Day, the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks inked seven new players, who will join four midyear transfers, in the latest recruiting class for the Skyhawks.
The small class is not done, though, as FLC head coach Joe Morris expects a few more players to sign before the end of the week and plans to continue recruiting through the spring months, similar to what the team has done in past years.
“We’ll probably end up with 14 (by the end of the week), including our midyear signings, and we’ll continue to recruit into the summer,” Morris said.
Part of the Skyhawks’ willingness to wait and keep recruiting into the summer stems from wanting quality players who can contribute right away and build the culture Morris envisions.
Here’s a look at the new Skyhawks:
Phil Aumua is a 6-foot, 300-pound junior defensive tackle from Copperas Cove, Texas. Aumua is a midyear transfer who played at Texas’ Tyler Junior College as a freshman and Cisco College as a sophomore. Last season at Cisco, Aumua had 23 tackles and 4½ tackles for loss in nine games.
Braylan Davis is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound junior cornerback originally from Denver. Davis is a transfer who had stops at California’s Victory Valley College in 2016 and Mt. San Antonio College in 2017. Davis played in nine games at Mt. SAC in 2017 and recorded 19 total tackles and had two pass break ups.
Trey Hall is a 5-foot-10, 205-pound freshman running back from Aurora. Hall ran for 446 yards and two touchdowns for the Rangeview High School Raiders in 2017. He is the younger brother of former FLC running back PJ Hall, who ran for 2,834 yards and 13 touchdowns in 38 games for FLC.
Max Hyson is a 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker from Durango. He was a three-year starter for DHS and recorded 251 career tackles for the Demons.
Javonte Norman is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound junior running back from Stockton, California. Norman is a transfer from Modesto Junior College in California where he competed in football and track. He had 29 carries for 134 yards and two touchdowns last season.
Erik Ornduff is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound sophomore quarterback from Morgan Hill, California. Ornduff is a midyear transfer from Gavilan College in California where he was a Golden Coast Conference honorable mention and the team’s most valuable player. He completed 49.1 percent of his passes for 1,663 yards and nine touchdowns against 11 interceptions.
Lorenzo Tanner is a 6-foot, 265-pound sophomore defensive end from Waukegan, Illinois. Tanner, a midyear transfer, played his freshman season at Black Hills State University in 2015. He had 21 tackles and one tackle for loss in six games with the Yellow Jackets.
Ethan Todd is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound freshman wide receiver from Farmington. Todd had 35 receptions for 837 yards and 10 touchdowns during his senior season at Farmington High School.
Joseph Townsell is a 6-foot-2, 290-pound junior offensive lineman from Stockton, California. Townsell played two seasons at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton where he was named freshman of the year and most outstanding offensive player in 2017.
Suli Tukumoeatu is a 5-foot-10, 200-pound junior defensive back from West Valley City, Utah. Tukumoeatu is a midyear transfer from Utah’s Snow College. In 11 games last season, Tukumoeatu had 39 total tackles, five tackles for loss, nine pass breakups and one interception.
Noah Williams is a 6-foot, 200-pound freshman running back from Basalt. Williams ran for 1,422 yards and 26 touchdowns for Basalt High School in 2017. He was a second team all-state selection as a running back/linebacker in 2017.
The Fort Lewis College men’s soccer program announced the signings of Bar Hazut and Enoch Mushagalusa this week. The two attacking players will join the Skyhawks for the 2018 season.
Hazut is a midfielder/forward from Modiin, Isreal, who at 6-foot will bring size to the Skyhawks attack.
Mushagalusa is a forward from Denver who played in the Colorado Rapids’ U.S. Soccer Development Academy. With the Rapids’ under-18/19 team last season, Mushagalusa played in 13 games and scored eight goals.
“With Bar and Enoch joining the program along with our strong core of returning players, we’ll have the ability to be dangerous from all areas of the field,” FLC head coach David Oberholtzer said in a news release.
The Fort Lewis College women’s soccer team received a National Letter of Intent from Brooke Brown.
Brown, a midfielder from Chandler, Arizona, netted 18 career goals and assists in 86 games of her four varsity seasons at Basha High School.
