Fort Lewis College student joins Region 9

Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado has selected Matthew Farmer as an intern.

As a Fort Lewis College junior from Mississippi, Farmer is studying economics and is interested in working in the private sector. He plans to attend graduate school at Washington University concentrating in Civil Administration.

Farmer was selected to participate in the business plan competition Hawk Tank, which due to COVID-19 was canceled last semester. The team continues to work on the business plan in hopes of pitching their idea of affordable solar panels across the Four Corners for low income families.

Farmer serves on the Boards of the American Indigenous Business Leaders, El Centro which gives indigenous students a way to be familiar with an entrepreneur and business setting/future, and the Pejuta TP Society for Plains indigenous students to gather and represent their collective culture on campus.

Farmer may be reached at 247-9621.
