Fort Lewis College to celebrate student scholars

Fort Lewis College will celebrate student scholars at 9 a.m. Thursday in an in-person and virtual symposium.

Because of the ongoing pandemic, the in-person aspects of the symposium will be limited to the campus community. Community members may join the virtual event at www.fortlewis.edu/symposium under the Virtual Symposium tab.

FLC will celebrate the research, scholarly and creative works its students completed under the mentorship of faculty. Students have dedicated themselves to investigating, innovating, exploring, composing and creating, and by doing so they have asked big questions, challenged conventional wisdom and pushed the boundaries of knowledge.

The Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities Symposium provides the opportunity to learn about students’ efforts and celebrate their achievements.

The opening ceremony will take place from 10:30 to 11 a.m. with land acknowledgment by Missy Thompson, coordinator of undergraduate research, and the welcome and opening remarks by Provost Cheryl Nixon.

Students presentations will be offered in an on-demand format online from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The closing ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. with the award announcements by Thompson and closing remarks by President Tom Stritikus.
