Fort Lewis College to host ‘Colorado Archaeology’ class

Assistant State Archaeologist Becca Simon will teach the class “Colorado Archaeology” from Nov. 22 to Nov. 24 at the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College.

This 20-hour course is part of the Program for Avocational Archaeological Certification and is open to the public. No prior classes are required.

The course is a general survey of Colorado’s Native American heritage and discusses the various stages of prehistoric and historic Native American development, regional relationships, lifestyles, origins, social organization and technology. The course provides an understanding of cultural affiliation and cultural use of a region.
