Fort Lewis College’s women’s basketball team has had an excellent start to the 2015-2016 season, and one of the Skyhawks had been recognzied for her efforts.
Senior forward Mary Rambo was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Rambo is a key contributor down low for the Skyhawks and recorded her second double-double of the season in Saturday’s 41-point walkover of Adams State University.
Rambo dominated the action Saturday with 13 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and a steal to get the conference schedule started with a Fort Lewis victory in the RMAC opener. Six games into the season, Rambo is third in the conference in field goal percentage (.594), fifth in offensive rebounds per game (3.3) and eighth in rebounds per game (7.3).
The Skyhawks (5-1) are ranked No. 5 in the Division II South Central Region. Their only loss came to the No. 6 ranked team in the nation, Lubbock Christian, in a game that took overtime to decide.
