The Fort Lewis women’s basketball team will be without the services of junior forward Sydney Bevington for the rest of the season after she had surgery to repair torn ligaments in her ankle, according to Skyhawks coach Taylor Harris.
Bevington was key to the Skyhawks’ rebounding efforts. She started four out of the six games she played in. In those six games, Bevington averaged a team-high 8.7 rebounds per game, including a 12-point and 18-rebound double-double performance against Northern New Mexico on Nov. 18.
The Skyhawks’ frontcourt has been injury-ridden over the past month.
Senior Kelsey Sorenson missed five games with a knee injury. Bevington’s last game was Dec. 2 against Western Colorado. Redshirt junior Lilly Pepper played five games earlier in the season but is away from the team.
Fort Lewis (7-4, 4-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) will resume play Jan. 5 at South Dakota Mines.
