The Fort Lewis College women’s golf team is going to need a few low rounds to make up ground after the first day of the Colorado Mesa University Maverick Spring Invitational.
With a team total of 350, the Skyhawks are in seventh place out of 11 teams heading into Day 2 at The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa in Grand Junction. The total is 37 strokes behind Metro State, which holds a narrow two-shot lead over the host Mavericks.
Jessica Thulson’s 81 was the low round of the day for Fort Lewis and puts her in a tie for 11th. Teammate Isabella Martinez finished close behind and is tied for 19th after posting an opening round 82 in the two-day event.
Cal State Monterey Bay’s Linnea Karlsson is at the top of the leaderboard after firing a 73 on Monday. Karlsson is three shots clear of Metro State’s Cha Cha Willhoite and Colorado Mesa’s Sara Swaney. .
FLC’s Milena Singletary signed for 90 and sits in a tie for 33rd.
Lauren Trujillo finished with a 97 and Lindsey Blythe carded a 101 to round out the scoring for the Skyhawks.
