The Fort Lewis College women’s golf team finished strong on the final day of play at The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa in Grand Junction.
Isabella Martinez finished 10th overall with a score of 13-over 157 in two rounds. Her play was good enough to put FLC in sixth place by the end of the 11-team tournament. Martinez shot an 82 on the first day and 75 on the second.
The Skyhawks took 14 strokes off from Monday’s round to finish with a 686 overall score. FLC shot a 350 on Day 1 and 336 on Day 2. Jessica Thulson was one stroke behind Martinez with a 158, which was good enough for 11th overall. Milena Singletary finished with a 180, which tied her for 35th. Lauren Trujillo scored a 191, for a tie in 47th, and Lindsey Blythe carded a 195 for 50th.
Colorado Mesa University won its home tournament with a 619.
Metro State’s Cha Cha Willhoite won a playoff hole to win the individual title with a score of 148 to lead all 56 golfers. Willhoite shot a 76 on the first day and 72 on the final.
Up next for the Skyhawks will be the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament. The three-day tournament will be held April 17-19 at Coldwater Golf Club in Avondale, Arizona.
