Four Corners lectures continue Wednesday

San Juan Basin Archaeological Society, as part of the Four Corners Lecture Series, will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College, 1000 Rim Drive.

Filmmaker Larry Ruiz and archaeologist Laurie Webster will present Ruiz’s new film, “The Language of Landscapes: Places in Time,” and give a talk about the Cedar Mesa Perishables Project, founded by Webster. A social will precede the meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Ruiz is a Durango filmmaker focused on showing comparisons between ancient civilization and its modern descendants in the American Southwest.

Webster, who works as a textile consultant in Mancos, is a specialist of perishable material culture of the Southwest. She works as a research associate at the American Museum of Natural History and Crow Canyon Archaeological Center.
