Four Durango High School runners honored by CHSAA All-State

Dolores, Mancos also revognized

Four Durango High School runners gained honorable mention status when the Colorado High School Activities Association named it’s all-state teams Tuesday.

Junior boys Noah Bodewes and Aidan Fitzgerald, as well as sophomore girls Madeleine Burns and Kiara Hamlin, were honored in Class 4A.

Bodewes had a top 5-kilomer time this year of 15 minutes, 51.60 seconds. Fitzgerald’s top 5K was 15:31.30. Burns ran 17:53.30 for her fastest time of the year, and Hamlin’s best was 18:58.10.

Hamlin was 12th at the state meet, and Burns finished 17th. Bodwes placed 19th in the boys state meet, and Fitzgerald finished 24th.

Mancos senior Simon Kearns was named to the second team in Class 2A, and his fellow senior Blue Jay Jake McKie earned honorable mention. Grace Manning, a Mancos freshman, was an honorable mention selection in the Class 2A girls list.

Dolores junior Philip Hufman also was honorable mention among boys in Class 2A.
