Durango Fire Protection District and Durango Parks and Recreation have partnered to offer free community education classes at Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
Classes aim to provide residents knowledge and skills for safe practices during outdoor adventures or at home. Classes will be offered Wednesday evenings starting Oct. 7. The schedule is:
4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 7: Dangerous venomous critters.5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 21: Basic first aid.5 to 6 p.m. Nov. 4: Smoking and vaping: The real deal.4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18: Basic first aid.5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 2: House fires: The risks and causes.Classes are limited to 20 participants to allow for social distancing. Masks are required, and participants may be asked to help with disinfection practices.
