La Plata County will offer free wood mulch from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Bayfield Convenience Center, 4496 County Road 223, Bayfield.
Traditionally, residents are required to load the mulch into their vehicles, but La Plata County staff members will be on-site with heavy equipment to load vehicles and trailers. The transfer station will be closed and will not accept waste during the free mulch-loading.
For safety, residents are required to remain in their vehicles at all times in the loading and staging area, and vehicles must be in park while the equipment operator is maneuvering.
Space is provided after the mulch-loading area to cover the load for transport.
