Mending Kids, a surgical organization, will be in Southwest Colorado and Northern New Mexico in May conducting free outpatient surgeries for children up to 18 years old. Surgeries include orthopedic; ear nose and throat; plastic and reconstructive; "lumps and bumps," general surgery and urology. Emergency surgery is not covered.
Surgeries will be provided for families who cannot afford them in Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma and San Juan counties.
No insurance or legal documentation is required, and approved transportation and housing costs are provided.
Hometown Missions, the U.S. branch of Mending Kids, provides up to 20 surgeries a day for children in the U.S., thanks to volunteer medical staff and donations.
