Licensed professional counselor Janet Curry will present “Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness: Practices for Supporting Safety, Stability and Ease” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
This presentation will be free and open to the public.
Curry will explore the challenge of bringing mindfulness to recovery and healing from trauma. She will offer current insights from research about the benefits of mindfulness for alleviating trauma, as well as the potential risks when teaching mindfulness to those with trauma histories. She will also introduce best practices for teaching mindfulness skillfully to support safety, stability and ease.
