The public can ride Durango transit free on Saturday and on Nov. 29 thanks to San Juan Basin Health Department and on Nov. 25 because the Methodist Thrift Shop is picking up the tab.
Transit vehicles on the Loop Bus Routes, the on-call Opportunity Bus and, of course, the always free Main Avenue trolley, will be free.
Free-ride providers cover fare box revenue, said Amber Blake, the city’s multimodal director. This year, seven agencies are providing 32 free-ride days, Blake said.
In exchange, the ride sponsors get their name on the city television channel, on the electronic information screen on all buses and in public service announcements.
