La Plata County will offer free wood mulch, loaded into vehicles and trailers from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bayfield Convenience Center, 4496 County Road 223.
The Bayfield Convenience Center accepts dry, brown yard waste such as tree trimmings, slash and tree trunks. These materials are periodically mulched and offered to residents free of charge.
Traditionally, residents are required to load the mulch into their vehicles. However, on Saturday, La Plata County staff will be on site with heavy equipment to load vehicles and trailers with wood mulch. The transfer station will be closed and not accepting waste during the free mulch-loading.
La Plata County encourages residents to take advantage of this offer to load free wood mulch.
