Friends of Library has your book-lover’s gift

Nancy Peake, president of Friends of the Durango Public Library, usually brings the puppy she’s training to go into the Guide Dog program when she works at the Friend’s bookstore, which is offering several special deals for the holidays.

If you like to do good while making your holiday purchases, the Friends of the Durango Public Library has the perfect solution for the book lovers on your list.

At their bookstore in the library’s lobby, the organization is offering special Christmas books and a holiday dollar cart, where many like-new books, including best-sellers, are available for $1.

For a reader who wants to keep track of a busy schedule, the Book Lover’s Calendar for 2015 would be perfect.

And the gift of a Friends’ membership is a gift that will give all year long, including a members-only first shot at the wide variety of books available. Memberships are $5 per year for individuals, $10 for families and $150 for lifetime memberships.

The bookstore, now known as Lela’s Place, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
