A fund has been set up for a longtime Hesperus woman who fell off a ladder last month, and remains mostly unconscious in a critical-care hospital on the Front Range.
Karen Glascock, 55, was found by an ex-boyfriend laying on the floor with injuries to her head on Oct. 23. She was ultimately airlifted to St. Anthony’s Hospital.
“In the last couple of days she has blinked her eyes to answer some questions,” said Scott Trinklein, a longtime friend. “That may sound small, but in this case, it’s a pretty big deal.
Trinklein said he believed Glascock was retrieving some items from the attic when she fell off the ladder. Glascock lives alone, he said, but an ex-boyfriend she still keeps in touch with was visiting, and he alerted emergency responders.
Trinklein said Glascock has remained mostly unconscious since the accident last month, and as of Sunday, he said it’s likely she will be transferred to a long-term critical care hospital.
A few friends of Glascock have set up a fund to help pay for the care of her “four-legged family members” and other household expenses while she remains in the hospital.
Trinklein said Glascock has lived in the area for at least 30 years, and works as a massage therapist.
“She’s a wonderful, kind, warm, compassionate, loving person,” he said. “I know everyone says that about people, but in her case it’s true.”
Those interested in donating are asked to contact the Bank of the San Juans, and contribute to the Karen Glascock Fund.
