With my experience of four decades owning and operating a small business, plus having lived in Durango for 60 years, I would like to express my full and total support for Ballot Issue 3A.
Our school system is the backbone of our community. I cannot think of a more important issue facing our community than having young adults properly prepared for advanced education and the workforce.
Yes, this will take an investment. Just like all small business owners will tell you, without investments you will not succeed and will remain stagnant. Investments in our schools are needed for technology, facilities and personnel. This investment pays dividends to our community with well-trained and educated students ready to enter the workforce and become assets to our society.
My three children were raised and educated in Durango. They have all moved on to productive careers in their chosen fields.
My family is fortunate to have had the opportunities that made their aspirations possible. I do not have children still in the district. However, I do wish to give all children the best prospect for a successful career.
