This letter is directed to the business communities of Durango and Bayfield, as well as surrounding county areas.
Recently, Adult Day Care at “Our Place,” a local agency that provides daily respite care for Alzheimer’s and dementia clients, was engaged in an annual fund raising event.
Much like many other nonprofits, we solicited donations, silent auction items and prizes from area merchants. However, what we found was astounding.
We knew that our business and merchant community was exceedingly generous and gracious, but what we didn’t know was that an overwhelming majority had their own story to tell.
We heard heart-rending as well as heartwarming stories of personal experiences regarding how Alzheimer’s and dementia had touched families and friends.
We ended up sharing prayers as well as occasional tears. This ended up being a glorious sharing of good will.
We can thank our merchants and businesses for their donations, but we can not possibly dig deep enough in “the thank you well” to express how you have touched our hearts.
