Both the Democratic and Republican candidates will participate in the forum and answer questions from audience members.
Democrats include business owner James Iacino and former Colorado House of Representatives member Diane Mitsch Bush. Republican candidate and restaurant owner Lauren Boebert is also joining. Current Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Cortez, has not confirmed participation.
The event is “an excellent opportunity for voters to learn about the candidates, hear the issues and decide how they want to cast their ballots,” Jean Aaro, president of the League of Women Voters of La Plata County, said in an email.
“The LWV sponsors nonpartisan voter education events so that voters can cast their ballots from a position of knowledge and confidence,” Aaro said.
3rd Congressional District residents can submit questions for the candidates through this Google form by noon on June 10.
Paul DeBell, professor of political science at Fort Lewis College, will moderate.
The event is sponsored by Fort Lewis College, as well as the League of Women Voters chapters in Montezuma, La Plata, Mesa, Montrose, Pueblo and Gunnison Valley counties.

The forum will also livesteam on the League of Women Voters’ Facebook page. A recording will be available on-demand from Durango Government Television under “Special Programs.”
