Girl, 16, believed to have run away, found safe in Albuquerque

Hannah Bissell suspected of leaving with 21-year-old heroin user

A 16-year-old Durango girl who supposedly ran away with a 21-year-old heroin user has been located.

Hannah Bissell was found about 11 a.m. or noon Sunday in Albuquerque, said her step-father, James Mangan of Durango.

“We pinged her phone and found out where she was and had the police go there,” he said. “They probably wouldn’t have gone there if we didn’t do that.”

Hannah was on some kind of hold in Albuquerque and can’t be picked up until Tuesday, he said.

He didn’t have details on her decision to leave Durango.

Police said Hannah ran away Tuesday with Munir “Matt” Nazer, 21, of Palos Hills, Illinois, who has a history of heroin use, including an appearance on the “Steve Harvey” show to discuss his addiction.

Efforts to reach the Durango Police Department on Monday for more information were unsuccessful.

Nazer is apparently being held in a county jail in Albuquerque, Mangan said.

He thanked the community for its help in locating Hannah.

“She is safe and sound and everything is good,” he said.
