Over the past decade, I have worked closely with Dean Brookie on affordable housing, open space preservation and in garnering donated financial and professional help in solving a multitude of civic problems.
His low-key consensus-building skills, charisma, experience and insights are proven. He has been an exceptional political and civic leader on the Durango City Council.
For example, in the past four years he’s provided invaluable service to us with the Gold King Mine water pollution problem; he worked successfully to build a coalition of federal, state, and local officials to devise plans to minimize the possibility of another such environmental disaster, and to spread the cost of the cleanup among those agencies affected; he significantly assisted with the location, sizing, and funding of long neglected water and sewer treatment facilities; provided political leadership on the city council in formulating and adopting at long last a city housing policy now in its final stages of drafting.
By re-electing him we can continue to benefit from his ability to solve other problems we will inevitably face in the next four years.
