This is just a reminder to drivers that even at low speeds in your neighborhoods, something or someone can jump out between parked cars with little or no time for you to react.
One of our deputies had a bear run between two parked cars and hit the front of his patrol car. At only 20 mph in the dark, he had no time to react and it caused a lot of damage to the patrol vehicle and the bear did not make it.
Please slow down in neighborhoods, school zones for children playing and walking to and from school. Even just traveling at 20 mph can cause severe or fatal injuries!
Also, our as school starts, our office reminds drivers to slow down near school zones and in neighborhoods.
Please don't talk on cell phones or text messages when driving near schools. It can wait!
