The ol’ calendar on the wall is moving into the final third of the season for scheduled tournament play, and there are some tournaments that have moved their dates and locations in the upcoming months of August and September.
The Hampton Inn-Yellow Ball Challenge will now be played Aug. 5 at Hillcrest. The format is the same and the sign-up sheet is in the clubhouse.
Then, on Aug. 6, the Hillcrest Adult/Junior Tournament, sponsored by Coldwell Banker Heritage House Realtors, will be held, with a $250 added prize purse. Sign-up info is also in the clubhouse. One other event, the Bank of the San Juans Tournament, has moved not only its date but also the venue for later this season. This event will now take place Sept. 15 and will be contested on the Glacier Club course north of Durango.
The Dalton Ranch early August schedule remains intact with The Bugler (men’s member/guest) event Aug. 3-5, followed by the Ladies Club Championship on Aug. 8-9.
Another hole-in-one popped into the cup, this time July 8 at the Glacier Club. Christine Miles nailed the par-3, 132-yard 8th hole using a 5-iron. There was a minor earthquake as all six members of their contingent were jumping around with excitement. Congrats, Christine.
