Wolfwood to bring wolves to Vallecito campground

Wolfwood Refuge will visit Vallecito Reservoir from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 6 at Five Branches Campground, 4677 County Road 501A.

People will be able to meet the refuge’s new ambassador wolves. A presentation will be given at 1 p.m.

Lunch will be available at noon for a suggested donation of $5. All money collected will go to Wolfwood. There will be Wolfwood items for sale with profits benefiting the refuge.

Do not bring dogs.

You can catch monarchs, help collect data

Durango Nature Studies will host a citizen science event from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Durango Nature Center.

Participants will help catch, tag and release monarch butterflies to collect valuable scientific data.

Emily Schaefgen will lead the workshop, which is free for DNS members and $10 for non-members.

All participants receive free entry to the Nature Center, which is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
