Although it appears that I will owe more money under the Trump tax proposals, should I take consolation from the fact that corporations will see their tax obligations slashed?
We are told that this will result in massive new hiring and bountiful, rising wages for all workers. But when $300 billion of corporate profits were repatriated by G.W. Bush in 2004, corporations pocketed their windfall and then laid off more than 20,000 workers.
“Trickle down” economics has never worked except to increase the deficit. That’s the same deficit which (according to hysterical Republicans) threatened our nation’s very existence under the Obama administration. Now Republican hypocrites plan to increase the national deficit by several trillion dollars to pay for their corporate tax give away.
Republicans estimate that between $10 and $1,000 will surge back into tax payers’ bank accounts after they file their returns on a postcard. What will you do with that extra $10 burning a hole in your pocket every year?
Call Scott Tipton and Cory Gardner and tell them about your plans. But don’t bother calling Senator Bennett because the Republicans are working their legislative magic in secret (repeating the winning strategy they employed on health care reform).
They don’t want you to focus on their voodoo economics. Instead, they urge you to work yourself into a frenzy about Hillary Clinton or “open borders” as numerous conservative writers to the Herald have obligingly done.
So shut up, marvel as ‘trickle down’ works its magic and enjoy your $10 spending spree.
