The news that our local Republican leader Shelli Shaw refused to sign off on the November election results does it for me. It cements my opinion that this Republican Party is out to tear down our democratic way of governance no matter what.

From their leader Donald Trump to our 3rd Congressional District representative, I hear only messages of confrontational disruption. Destroy at all costs.

Some would say I am not listening to the right news outlets. That if I were listening to Fox affiliates, I would hear the positive ideas that this party has to offer – inclusiveness, women’s rights, care for those less fortunate, meaningful climate action. I’ve not heard it. I don’t believe these issues are in the current Republican Party platform.

And now the richest of their ranks attack the rule of law upon which our government operates, bringing lawsuits that question the government’s authority to levy taxes because they don’t want to pay. This too tears away at our democracy.
