Students learn about real-life work during Career Day
March 3 was Career Day at Bayfield Elementary School, with students dressing for their chosen professions. Dakota Barnes, left, says she wants to work in a hardware store, while Xavier Rhinehart will be a railroad engineer, and Mason Churchill will play for the Broncos.

Career Day at Bayfield Elementary is an opportunity for students to dress for their chosen professions, as well as hearing from area professionals about their jobs.

Speakers at the March 3 event came from Upper Pine River Fire Protection District, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, La Plata Electric Association, U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Reclamation, Southern Ute Indian Tribe, as well as an X-ray technician and nurses from Mercy Regional Medical Center.

A self-employed cabinet maker and contractor also talked to students about running their own businesses.
