Government needs to tighten its belt

Working two to three jobs in the 1990s-into the 21st century, I secured home mortgages on the south side of East Third Avenue that couldn’t be done in 2024, by working around the clock on whatever keeps one awake. Naturally, I have experienced jealousy for many years and have a thick skin to deal with it and I am nice to most folks coming to my front door.

After selling my first house and breaking even, before the real estate gold rush, I still had about $100,000 to pay to IRS in capital gains. This sum, I guess now, could have been reinvested, but I was heartbroken and not thinking things through, for this first house was to be a gift to my daughter who tragically died after finishing college.

Although I didn’t make a wise financial decision, I thought this 100 grand would go to worthy causes. One costly government incident, of many, involved the roaming large white Chinese balloon that was shot down by a F-16 that cost taxpayers well over a 100 grand in about five minutes. This week, a pricey F-16, one of many jets given from the USA to Ukraine, crashed and unfortunately killed the newly trained pilot in a war that should not be still going on.

Did we not learn of lengthy/cost trillions stays in Vietnam-Afghanistan? Hopefully, better outcomes will surface when I and our government spend money. Our multitrillion-dollar debt could be called to pay if we show signs of trouble paying interest on this huge sum of money. My my, wouldn’t that upset our economy.
