Grants available for Durango small businesses, nonprofits

City provides funding to overcome costs associated with COVID-19
The city of Durango has created a Business Relief Fund that will provide grants of up to $15,000 to small businesses and nonprofits to aid in the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The city of Durango has created a Business Relief Fund that will provide grants of up to $15,000 to small businesses and nonprofits to aid the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applications for the grants are available online at www.durangogov.org/1386/durango-business-relief-fund, and the deadline to apply is Dec. 9.

The Business Relief Fund will aid businesses and nonprofits with expenses incurred between March 10 and Dec. 30. Eligible expenses include:

Rent or mortgage payments.Utility payments.Employee payroll.Accounts payable and other bills.Payment of fixed debts.Expenses associated with adapting and repurposing to deal with COVID-19 requirements.Eligibility details and the application are available at durangogov.org/dbrf.

Applications and supporting documents should be submitted via email to dbrf@durangogov.org.

To be eligible, a small business must operate in Durango and have a current city business license. A nonprofit must provide services to Durango residents or businesses.

Additional eligibility requirements include: a decline in revenue this year compared to last year that was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a business must be registered with the Colorado Secretary of State before March 18, the applicant must provide financial records, and the applicant must be in good standing with local, state and federal taxing authorities.
