Great coverage of the Hermosa project

I want to thank Jerry McBride and the Herald (July 28) for covering the stocking of native Colorado River cutthroat trout into their historic waters in Hermosa Creek.

Our local 5 Rivers chapter of Trout Unlimited has partnered with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the U.S. Forest Service for many years to create a thriving and self-sustaining population of native Colorado River cutthroats in the Hermosa Creek drainage by providing funds and volunteers to make this happen. I’m happy in the knowledge that our grandkids and their kids will be able to fish for native trout in their original waters for years to come.

The picture in the lower right of the spread shows three generations helping in this effort, from 13 years old to over 70. Three current and one future member of TU!

Thank you to all of the volunteers from TU, San Juan Mountains Association, and others who assisted in this very important project.
