The League of Women Voters is coordinating a series of foreign-policy discussions, called Great Decisions, with the first one starting Tuesday at the Durango Public Library. The topic is Russia and the Near Abroad.
The first of the free Great Decisions forums at the Durango Public Library is scheduled from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Gail Harris, a retired U.S. Navy captain, will be the facilitator. She spent 28 years in intelligence work from the Cold War through Desert Storm to cyber warfare.
The topic is Russia and the Near Abroad. Near abroad is a Russian reference to the republics that gained independence when the Soviet Union broke apart.
A short video on the topic will be seen before open discussion begins. A discussion book is available for $22. Send a check made out to LWVLPC to Pat Chatfield, 50 Brookstone Court, Unit A, Durango 81301. She will leave a copy of the book at the library.
