Great Old Broads holding art fundraiser on Mother's Day

Tickets are now available for the Mother's Day "Art for Advocacy" fundraiser set for noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 14 at Fox Fire Farms Winery southeast of Ignacio. The family event celebrates mothers and Mother Earth and features art auctions, local wine and music, raffle prizes, carriage rides, and more. It's sponsored by Great Old Broads for Wilderness, a national organization based in Durango that works to protect public lands.

The main event will be live and silent auctions of nature-inspired art donated by artists from across the nation. Proceeds will benefit theBroads' work to protect and preserve America's wild public lands. Fox Fire Farms Winery will serve their signature wines, and for the kids, Durango Nature Studies will have a "creation station" art tent.

Other entertainment includes horse-drawn carriage rides and musical performances by Stillwater Music students. Food trucks - Mountain Stir Fry and the Hummus Bus - will be on hand as well.

Tickets are $35 and children under 18 are free. Adults will receive a complimentary glass of wine, a Great Old Broads commemorative wine glass, and a raffle ticket for a chance to win several prizes. Mountain Waters Rafting will provide bus transportation to and from Ignacio (departing from Durango) for the first 40 people who reserve a seat.

Additionally, Mountain Waters will donate profits from all bookings for the 8:30 a.m. float trip on Mother's Day to Great Old Broads for Wilderness for those who want to make a day of it.

Tickets may be purchased at www.greatoldbroads.org/mothers-day. For more information, contact Lauren Berutich at 385-9577.
