‘Green Drinks’ on tap Thursdays at Carver’s

Meetings to focus on sustainability

People interested in environmental issues are invited to attend Durango Green Drinks from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Carver Brewing Co.’s back room.

“‘Green-minded’ individuals and groups in Durango will have the opportunity to raise their glass and jointly toast the amazing sustainability initiatives going on in our community,” Rachel Landis, board member of the Sustainability Alliance of Southwest Colorado, said in a news release Wednesday.

Durango Green Drinks is part of an international collection of gatherings that span from Albania to Azerbaijan to Alabama, the news release said.

“Like our international counterparts, Durango Green Drinks is focused on creating an agenda-free, fun, non-politicized venue for the community to gather,” Landis said.

The meetings will take place on the last Thursday of every month through October at Carver Brewing Co., 1022 Main Ave. Appetizers will be provided, and a cash bar is available.

Organizations involved in Durango Green Drinks include: Carver Brewing, Sustainability Alliance of Southwest Colorado, Fort Lewis College Environmental Center, Local First, Garden Project of Southwest Colorado, Thrive! Living Wage Coalition, San Juan Citizens Alliance, Mountain Studies Institute and Durango Nature Studies.
