Griffiths’ cases postponed

Father-son charged in pot robbery

A father and son suspected of robbing a medical marijuana dispensary Jan. 31 were in 6th Judicial District court Thursday, only to have their respective cases postponed.

Joe Griffith, 44, is scheduled to appear before Judge Jeffrey Wilson at 8 a.m. July 2. Logan, 20, is to appear before Wilson at 8 a.m. May 21.

The pair, according to authorities, robbed the Rocky Mountain High Dispensary, 48 East Animas Road (County Road 250) – the son wielding a loaded handgun, the father posing as a customer.

Logan Griffith – 19 years old at the time – allegedly took $3,000 and a good amount of pot.

Logan Griffith, represented by state public defender John Moran, is charged with two counts of felony robbery – one for using a firearm and the other for taking a controlled substance.

Joe Griffith, represented by Durango lawyer Chris Trimble, is charged with one count of aggravated robbery of a controlled substance, one count of aggravated robbery and two counts of attempted aggravated robbery.

Deputy District Attorney Reid Stewart is prosecuting both cases.
