Grocery overcharging customers at checkout

Grocery prices are always high in a tourist town, but they still shouldn’t defraud you. Practically every time we shop at Albertsons on College, at least one item is marked lower than we are charged at checkout, or the sale price is not honored. We take pictures of the marked price to show the manager and demand the marked price.

Years ago, they would give it to you free if they were caught overcharging. Then they buckled down and gave us the marked price. Now they don’t even want to do that – you end up being rebuffed by the manager and they make up some lame excuse.

These mega-corporations have been fined repeatedly for overcharging but still increase their profits by doing so. Be aware – there are no protections from the government anymore and the corporations don’t care. They know you have to eat. When they tell shoppers one price and then sneakily charge more, that’s fraud. Call them on it. All the happy jingles and cartoon ads can’t hide the fact that they have no more scruples than anyone else.
